A NOUSgraphy Series by NOUS
The Uncontained is an art series by NOUS about bodies that become aware of their own boundary — and move beyond it. A figure collapses in exhaustion, its hair dissolving into light. Another turns toward the fog, toward the faceless thing that has no name yet. A body wraps itself in feathers and becomes its own shelter. A figure rises from still water — below, the reflection holds what the surface has already forgotten.
In "The Last Contour", a porcelain figure in profile slowly dissolves into the fog — not into darkness, but into silence itself. What remains is not absence, but the memory of a contour: the last line before the self releases its hold on form. And in "Where Black Ends", a single arc of pale light holds the boundary between presence and void — the body does not begin where black ends. It merely becomes visible.
The Uncontained does not ask what the body shows — but what it can no longer contain. The series moves between exhaustion and departure, between dissolution and the dignity of still being here.
A NOUSgraphy is not an image that is made — it is an image that comes into being. What would you like to know about this process?
